Our flagship product is the KOL or the ‘Kit of Learning’ series of micro-controller trainers. These kits are based on the PIC series of controllers from Micro-chip Technology Inc. We have kits for the:

PIC 16F84a controller.

A simple yet powerful RISC (Reduced Instruction Set) based 18 pin micro-controller and a widely used controller in its class with a max 10Mhz operation speed. This controller is present in the SIM card used in cellphones along-with a serial Eeprom. It is also widely used in the smart-cards. Having a program space of 1K, with 68 bytes RAM and 64 bytes Data EEPROM space, it can be used in small projects. It also has an 8 bit Timer with a prescaler , 4 interrupt sources, 13 i/o pins, it works in a wide voltage range from 2.0 to 6.0 volts. The 16F84a controller is Flash based and hence can be erased and re-programmed again and again. During run-time, the executing software can also read/write the Flash program memory and the EEPROM. The controller has a WDT (Watch Dog timer), a BOR (Brown-out reset) and a power saving Sleep mode. The controller can source/sink around 25ma per pin – thereby eliminating the need for external buffer/driver IC’s.

The board has berg strip header connections.

PIC 16F873 controller.

Another powerful RISC based 28 pin micro-controller with a max 20Mhz clock speed. This controller has a program space of 4K, with 192 bytes RAM and 128 bytes Data EEPROM space, it can be used in medium sized projects. It also has three timers, two 8 bits and one 16 bit timer, 22 i/o pins, 5 Analog to Digital input channels with 10 bit resolution, two Capture/Compare/PWM (CCP) modules, I2C (Inter Integrated Circuit) and SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) modules, In built USART, a PSP (Parallel Slave Port).

During run-time, the executing software can also read/write the Flash program memory and the EEPROM. The controller has a WDT (Watch Dog timer), a BOR (Brown-out reset) and a power saving Sleep mode. The chip can be programmed using the ICSP (In-circuit Serial Programming) via two pins. The controller can source/sink around 25ma per pin – thereby eliminating the need for external buffer/driver IC’s.

The 16F873a controller board is supplied with just berg strip headers for the ports.

PIC 16F877a controller.

A powerful RISC based 40 pin micro-controller with a max 20Mhz clock speed. This controller has a program space of 8K, with 368 bytes RAM and 256 bytes Data EEPROM space, it can be used in medium sized projects. It also has three timers, two 8 bits and one 16 bit timer, 33 i/o pins, 8 Analog to Digital input channels with 10 bit resolution, two Capture/Compare/PWM (CCP) modules, I2C (Inter Integrated Circuit) and SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) modules, In built USART, a PSP (Parallel Slave Port).

This is a powerful RISC based 40 pin micro-controller with a max 40Mhz clock speed. This controller has a program space of 16K words, with 1536 bytes RAM and 256 bytes Data EEPROM space, it can be used in medium/high-end projects. It also has four timers, one 8 bit and three 16 bit timers, 36 i/o pins, 13 Analog to Digital input channels with 10 bit resolution, one CCP and one Enhanced CCP module, I2C (Inter Integrated Circuit) and SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) modules, In built Enhanced USART with auto baud rate detect, a PSP (Parallel Slave Port). 8 x 8 single cycle hardware multipier. Flexible oscillator structure.

PIC 18F4585 controller.

This is a RISC based 40 pin micro-controller with a max 40Mhz clock speed. This controller has a program space of 32K words (64K bytes), with 3328 bytes RAM and 1024 bytes Data EEPROM space, it can be used in medium/high-end projects. It also has four timers, one 8 bit and three 16 bit timers, 40/44 I/O pins, 11 Analog to Digital input channels with 10 bit resolution, one CCP and one Enhanced CCP module, I2C (Inter Integrated Circuit) and SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) modules, In built Enhanced USART with auto baud rate detect, a PSP (Parallel Slave Port). 8 x 8 single cycle hardware multipier. A Flexible oscillator structure and power managed modes makes it a unique chip.

During run-time, the executing software can also read/write the Flash program memory and the EEPROM. The controller has a WDT (Watch Dog timer), a BOR (Brown-out reset) and a power saving Sleep mode.
